General and Adolescent Paediatric Research in the United Kingdom & Ireland (GAPRUKI) was established in June 2016 to foster collaborative multi-centre research in the UK & Ireland. This network brings together individuals and sites to overcome the challenges inherent in performing research with children in general paediatrics. We recognise the need for multi-centre trials due to the rarity of serious and adverse events in our patient population.
The structure and operational policy of GAPRUKI is based on other national research networks –In particular Paediatric Emergency Research in the UK and Ireland (PERUKI). PERUKI was set up in August 2012 based on other national networks including the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network of the US (PECARN), the Pediatric Emergency Research of Canada network (PERC), and the Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative of Australia and New Zealand (PREDICT).
GAPRUKI aims to contribute significantly to the evidence base in general and community paediatrics through the enthusiasm and engagement of all members.
We wish for our membership to be representative of general paediatric services around the UK and Ireland, ideally with a contact in each hospital that offers a paediatric service. If you are a General Paediatrician, or a professional involved in the care of children and would like to find out more about how you can be involved , please contact us or complete the membership form (Membership form).
